June 25-July 2 Siesta Vacation Manor Family
We have stayed at Siesta Breakers for about 10 years and have always had a great experience. This year was no different. The office staff is always wonderful to work with and very accomodating. Our room was beautiful. The grounds are beautiful and always well maintained.
This was the first year I can say I have ever had a complaint regarding our stay. My daughters and their family including my 7 month old granddaughter got stuck on the elevator in the evening. We will take part of the blame as they did have a full elevator and probably should have not had as many people on board but I felt like no one was really any help in getting them out of the elevator. In the end they spent almost an hour on an extremely hot elevator with a baby. They immediately called the emergency number from within the elevator and we called the emergency number for the condo, I got a recording to leave a message which we did. We went to find the security guard and she was absolutley no help at all. She continued to tell us that she always had a key for the elevator where she worked before but this employer did not trust her with one. I felt like she did not make any effort to help us. I was shocked that no one showed up from the fire department after 30 minutes had passed. I do want to say the maintenance man was wonderful. Once he arrived he tried everything he could to get them out and even opened the door above to try to get them some air to cool off. Finally after an hour the elevator man came and let them out. A few days later 4 people, including the baby again got stuck on the elevator again. Thank goodness it was during the day and the maintanance man was able to get them out quick.
Like I said, we have been long time clients and have never had a negative experience until now. I understand we can not control if something breaks down but I do feel the response plan needs to be reviewed. This was a very unnerving experience.
